Winter book challenge

The Southwark Winter Book Challenge runs from 3 January to 19 March 2017. It’s a great chance for children and young people to try new books and challenge themselves to read more.

There are three age categories, and you can register in any Southwark Library to take part. Any book borrowed and read in that time will count towards the challenge, but the libraries also have some seasonal recommendations for ages 5 to 17.

Children and young people aged 5 to 17 who complete the challenge will be entered into a prize draw. To be eligible for the challenge prizes you must:

Ages four and under

Once registered parents will be given a reading log card to keep track of the number of books read. Once their child has read ten books borrowed from the library they will receive a copy of Bear’s Reading Adventure book with stickers.

Ages five to 11 years

Once registered children will receive their reading log and a sticker for each book they read. Children who read ten books will be entered into a prize draw to win a £20 Amazon Voucher. Any book borrowed and read in that time will count towards the challenge, but we also have some seasonal recommendations for ages five to 11.

Ages 12 to 17 years

Once registered children and young people will receive their reading log and those who read five books will be entered into a prize draw to win a £20 Amazon Voucher. Any book borrowed and read in that time will count towards the challenge, but we also have some seasonal recommendations for ages 12 to 17.
