Founded in 2019, Off the Chest is a thriving, inclusive spoken word and poetry open mic night, celebrating original voices and poetry that makes a statement. With 10 spots on the open mic up for grabs, they aim to give a platform to poets of diverse backgrounds and ages, from across London and beyond. On top of this, expect feature performances from two acclaimed poets, at the top of their game.

Hosted by Ella Dorman-Gajic and Iftikhar Latif, Off the Chest champions community. This night was originally on at the HiLand Cafe in Mile End, to multiple sell-out audiences. For their celebrated open mic segment, they welcome original poetry of different themes, subject-matters and styles, from the intimate to the experimental.

To sign up to the open mic, please turn up to the venue 10 minutes before the event.

Designed by world renowned architect Piers Gough, partner at CZWG architects, the Canada Water Library opened in November 2011.

The library incorporates a range of cultural and community facilities, reflecting Southwark Council’s ambition to put libraries at the heart of community life.

As part of an innovative partnership with Southwark Council, the 150-seat theatre is managed and programmed by the Albany, South East London’s leading performing arts venue. The Albany has a reputation for visionary programming that reflects the cultural diversity and creative mix of the area. The Albany also manages the suite of six meeting rooms that are available for hire, and the onsite Caff A at Canada Water Library.

So whether you’re coming to a performance, hiring a meeting room, having a coffee or visiting the library we look forward to welcoming you soon.
