Galleywall Nature Reserve Open Day

Come along every 3rd Sunday of the month to spend some time at the Galleywall Nature Reserve Open Day. Enjoy the nature reserve, have a cup of tea, and find out more about local wildlife.

An oasis of green in the heart of Bermondsey! Galleywall Nature Reserve is populated with native trees and shrubs, and a carefully maintenance pond. The reserve runs open days on weekends, and children are well catered for, with a number of games organised around the pants and wildlife plus there is always a campfire.

All sessions are free and run 2-4pm. There’s no need to book, just come along!

Children are very welcome (we always have pond-dipping and mini-beast hunt equipment and information available) but must be supervised at all times by a parent or carer.

How to get there

This small plot of land which has been owned by Southwark Housing for decades. It was used by the adjacent Galleywall School for some time before the school closed. It has been maintained by a group of volunteers, the Friends of Galleywall Nature Reserve, since 2004, under an ongoing long-term agreement with the council.

The reserve is based in Bermondsey, South London, just a few minutes away from the Blue Market in the area known as the Blue Bermondsey.

Bus routes 1 and 381 have stops a mere metres away from the entrance and they both connect with Canada Water Station, Surrey Docks. South Bermondsey Station is within walking distance

Schools and other organisations are welcome to book to use the reserve. We have a schools information pack available. To book an event, please contact Galleywall Nature Reserve on
