The Mousehole Cat

The Mousehole CatA heart-warming tale of friendship between a fearless fisherman and his cat featuring live traditional Cornish music, puppetry and live action.
Based on a well-known Cornish legend, this heartwarming story of the friendship between a fearless fisherman and his devoted cat will warm the cockles of everyone’s hearts… almost as much as an ‘efty portion of stargazy pie!

Antonia Barber’s children’s book The Mousehole Cat tells the tale of Mowzer, a cat from the quintessentially Cornish fishing village of Mousehole. As a relentless storm forces the villagers into starvation Mowzer and her fisherman Tom Bawcock take it upon themselves to brave The Great Storm Cat and save the their village.

Written by the award-winning Cornish playwright Alan M Kent The Mousehole Cat fuses a blend of live traditional Cornish music, puppetry and live action. Whilst being faithful to the story told in the much-loved 90s children book the show has a modern, rustic aesthetic with a strong sense of Cornish folklore and community spirit.

Friday 11 January, 1pm & 4pm | Ages 3+ | £8.50

Once You’re Here

If you are attending a meeting, attending an event or using the café and are unsure where to go, please ask any of the library, café or front of house staff team who will be more than happy to help. The entrance to the theatre is opposite the Culture Café counter.
