Meet Fred – Puppetry Workshop

Meet Fred: Puppetry Workshop

Meet Fred: Puppetry Workshop

Hijinx Theatre in association with Blind Summit presents Meet Freed

Join Hijinx Theatre, the company behind Meet Fred, for a puppetry workshop before the show!

Learn the basics of Bunraku puppetry from Artistic Director Ben Pettitt-Wade and performer Martin Vick in this three hour workshop. Originating in Japan in the 17th Century, Bunraku is a three person style of puppetry which Hijinx Theatre has used to create this ‘truly unmissable piece of theatre’ (Broadway Baby).

The Meet Fred Puppetry Workshop is for anyone 14+ with an interest in puppetry or performance

About the show

Life is never simple for the puppets among us… Meet Fred, the two foot tall cloth puppet who fights prejudice every day. He just wants to be a regular guy, part of the real world, to get a job and meet a girl, but when threatened with losing his PLA (Puppetry Living Allowance), Fred’s life begins to spiral out of his control. Join Fred on his journey in this sell-out comedy hit about real life, seen through the eyes of someone a little bit different.

Ages 14+ / Contains strong language and puppet nudity.

Puppetry workshop on Friday 7 April, 3pm – 6pm. £15 / £20 show ticket and workshop.

"Sharp, funny and vastly entertaining"

Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
