Mystery Group Object _ Artefact of the monthCanada Water Library Mystery Object Group

Canada Water Library Mystery Object group is the new name for Artefact of the Month writing and drawing group with Southwark Heritage hosting the session in the library in Rotherhithe.

On Tuesday 23rd June, the Mystery Object Group is going on a field trip to a nearby location. Gather at Canada Water Library by 2pm and you will be led to this month’s mystery object, which is in a building a short walk away from the library (it’s to big to move it here)

This event is part of series of new ways to get the community involved and discover the heritage of Southwark.

Find inspiration in a mystery object from Southwark’s heritage collections and archives which will be unveiled to inspire writers and artists to new creativity. Just bring something to write or draw on and with, and your imagination

This event is free. All ages welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Learning and engagement

Learning and engagement is an essential part of Southwark heritage’s role within the community. Whether it is handling real objects from around the world or items from Southwark’s  past, using our resources or joining in an activity – our team will bring it all to life.

A new learning and engagement programme is being planned to help you make the most of the fantastic resources held in our collections. Objects, archives and artworks will be used in innovative ways to provide children, young people and adults with opportunities to learn about the rich and diverse history of our borough.

Sessions will provide schools, families, community groups and those who wish to learn independently with the use of handling collections, online services and a range of downloadable resources.
