Brazilian 7-string guitar player and composer Luiz Morais joins with vocalist Gabriela Kozyra to present a sparkling array of Brazilian tunes. Classics of Bossa Nova & Samba are complimented by new music from young Brazilian composers with diverse regional flavours & rhythms. A must for lovers of Brazilian music, past and present!

About Luiz Morais

Brazilian 7 strings guitarist and arranger, Luiz Morais is also an inspired composer exploring a wide scope of musical influences, ranging from the musical greats of the popular Brazilian tradition as well as the masters of Jazz.

Gathering with an exciting group of instrumental musicians, Morais has formed the Luiz Morais Quintet, a group dedicated to playing the music of this promising young composer who forges ahead in creating an innovative and experimental rebirth of the Brazilian musical tradition in a wider landscape of jazz and world music.

About Gabriela Kozyra

Gabriela studied Jazz Voice at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Completed her MA in Brazilian music at the Rotterdam Conservatoire Codarts. She performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival (The Netherlands), Het Concertgebouw, Jazz International Rotterdam, Paradise Jazz Festival (Cyprus) Hartog Jazz Festival, Reeuwijk Jazz Festival, Silesian Jazz Meeting (Poland), Modern Sound (Rio de Janeiro)…
Taught singing in music schools across The Netherlands, led choirs as a visiting teacher at the Rotterdam Conservatoire Codarts, where also was invited to be an external expert judge for the Latin Voice examinations. She has been involved in projects with: Nueva Manteca “Requem para el Mundo”, Anna Elis de Jong “Dansamba” and “Music and Poetry”, her own “Uma gringa canta Guinga”, Luiz Morais “Nascen
In 2009 receives a scholarship from Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds to study in Brazil and in 2010, for 9 months, studies singing and Brazilian guitar at ‘Escola Portátil de Música’, in Rio de Janeiro.
Her teachers in Holland and Brazil: Rachel Gould, Fay Classen, Anette von Eichel, Jose Koning, Connie de Jongh, Anna Elis de Jong. Master classes with: Deborah Brown, Mark Murphy, Judy Nimack, Meredith D’Abmrosio, Berry Harris, Celia Vaz, Nelson Faria, Francis Hime, Teresa Cristina, Ricardo Silveira, Amelia Rabello, Anna Paes.

She is currently performing and teaching in London. Also, giving a series of Brazilian vocal ensemble workshops “Cantar” at King’s College.
