St George in Southwark FestivalSt George in Southwark 2017 Festival Programme

St George in Southwark 2017 Festival, a series of events for everyone in and around St George The Martyr.

St George the Martyr church in The Borough was the first to be dedicated to dedicated St George in London. The surrounding marshy area began to be known as St George’s Fields. The name can be found locally in St George’s Mansions, St George’s RC Cathedral and St George’s Circus. St George is honoured in  many countries, representatives of whom live in Southwark. He is a figure who can bring communities together. The Festival has been celebrated since 2007.
