ABOUT THE EVENT
Jazz pianist Tim Richards presents a 45-minute streamed solo piano concert, featuring a selection of tunes by his favourite composers Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington, sprinkled with some original compositions and a little blues and boogie-woogie.
Tim has been a presence on the UK jazz scene since the early 80s, touring and recording widely as leader of various groups including ‘Spirit Level’, the nine-piece ‘Great Spirit’, and the Tim Richards Trio, with over a dozen albums between them on both vinyl and CD. His most recent album ‘Telegraph Hill’ featured the six-piece ‘Hextet’ and was described in The Observer as ‘A joy from beginning to end’.
He is also widely known as one of Britain’s most prolific jazz authors and educators. The concert will include a few tunes from his ‘Improvising Blues Piano’, ‘Jazz, Latin & Modern Collection’ and ‘Blues, Boogie & Gospel Collection’ books.
