Community Council News: The Bermondsey Community 

Cookery School opens at the Blue Michelin star celebrity chef Raymond Blanc, was at the Blue recently to open the Bermondsey Community Kitchen, a professional cookery school for local young people, which is located on top of Dun’s Deli’s local café. Photography – Selim Koor 

 This social enterprise was awarded £5,000 from the Bermondsey and Rotherhithe Neighbourhoods fund to train local young people and £27,500 from the Cleaner Greener Safer scheme for a van and catering wagon.

The brainchild of Mike Donovan, the deli owner, this school aims to teach 16-24 year olds and local unemployed people the skills to gain a relevant level 2 professional cookery City &Guilds Diploma, so that they can get full time work in the catering industry. The school is already training 15 students and has recently achieved City and Guilds centre status. More information about the school and the courses on offer can
