Fisher FC Community Day – Fisher v Deal Town

[df-subtitle]Saturday 22nd of October | Match 15:00[/df-subtitle]

Fisher FC in their vital bottom of the table clash against Deal Town this Saturday will be hosting the Fisher Community Day.

Following their return to SE16 in the summer Fisher aims to become a real asset to the local area, and are encouraging local residents to join them at St Paul’s to celebrate all that is great about the local area. They will be offering supporters both old and new the chance to bring a friend for just £3 enabling two adults to enter St Paul’s for just £10.

Alongside the ticket offer for fans, Fisher Community have invited a number of local primary schools to join us for the day too. Cherry Garden School have confirmed they will be in attendance once again, and a number of other local schools have received invites to come along and enjoy the day.

Fisher have also announced that they will be holding a collection for Southwark Foodbank, and encourage fans to bring something: donations of Tinned Fruit, Coffee, Rice, Rice Pudding, UHT Milk (1 Litre cartons) and non-pork meat with them.

Over 90% of the food distributed locally by the Southwark Foodbank (run by The Trussel Trust) is donated by the public, and we want the Fisher Faithful to be a part of making a difference for those most in need in our local community.

There will be music by local musicians mixed into our pre-match playlist, alongside a space for local artists to promote their artwork in the Clubhouse Bar.

The Clubhouse Bar will be open from 1.30pm on the day serving Fourpure Brewing Co. beer, brewed locally in Bermondsey. We will also have treats for any four legged Fisher fans on the turnstile thanks to our friends at Non-League Dogs! We are also hoping to have some new additions available in the Club Shop in time for the game.

Come down and cheer the Fish on in this six-pointer, and show your support for the club and the local community.

About Fisher FC

Fisher FC is a supporter-owned and run football club originating in Bermondsey. The club was founded in 2009 following the winding up of Fisher Athletic FC.

Fisher FC currently play in the Southern Counties East Football League’s Premier Division, managed by non-league legend Gary Abbott.

In 2013 the club unveiled proposals for a new community football facility at the St Paul’s Sports Ground site, just over the road from Fisher Athletic’s old Surrey Docks Stadium, working with new SDS freehold owners Fairview Homes on a scheme to redevelop both sites together, and bring Fisher home.

In the summer of 2014, Southwark Council’s Planning Committee unanimously approved plans for the new developments at the sites on Salter Road, bringing a return to Rotherhithe within reach a decade after Fisher Athletic’s former owners uprooted the club to East Dulwich.

The facility underwent a £1 million investment programme to build the St Paul’s Stadium, with Southwark Council working in partnership with Fairview homes and Fisher FC, with additional input from Kings College, Sport England and London Football Association.

Fisher FC kicked off the 2016/17 season back ‘home’ at their new home, drawing average crowds which are already higher than previous seasons when ground-sharing at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill.
