Surrey Docks Farm Christmas Fair 2018

8th December 11am to 4pm | Free entry

Surrey Docks Farm Christmas Fair 2018 is going to be the biggest and best ever in Rotherhithe! This popular event will delight the young ones in the family and their parents alike. A day to enjoy the visit to the farm during the festive season.

The Farm’s annual Christmas Fair will run from 11am-4pm on Saturday 8th December. Entry to the Farm will be free as usual but we’ll be charging for our activities to raise much needed unrestricted income to keep the Farm running all year round.

Our farmyard is set to be transformed with local craft stalls selling all sorts of Christmas gift ideas. The ever popular Peach Brandy sold by the local Church stall will be in attendance. Get there early!

Warm up in our river room and get creative making your own Christmas wreath.

The bar will be serving mulled wine and warm spiced apple juice and we’ll have home-made soup on sale.

Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree sale will be back by extremely popular demand.  There will be three sizes on sale to fit all budgets (and bus rides home!). Based on previous sellout last year we suggest you arrive at 11am to avoid disappointment. For more information about our trees click here.

Santa’s Grotto

Father Christmas will be back this year taking orders from excited kids. His elves have promised to keep him supplied with mince pies and ensure every child gets a present. (£4 per child).

Christmas Raffle

Support the Farm by buying a strip of raffle tickets on sale in the Farm Shop (£1 per strip).Winners will be drawn at 4pm at the Fair. Huge thanks to all the local organisations who have given fantastic raffle prizes – visit Surrey Quays Farm Website so you can see what’s up for grabs!

Children’s Activities

Our Plot to Shop group will be running fair games such as Hook the (tinsel-clad) Duck and Hoop the Reindeer (a staff member in a onesie, not a real reindeer!). We’ll also have a wonderfully talented facepainter in the plant room!

The whole Farm will be open as usual so you can wonder around and say hello to all our animals and purchase bags of feed from the shop to feed the goats, sheep, pigs and poultry.

In addition our livestock team will be creating a special area where you can go in with our smaller animals – including rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, turkeys, chickens etc – for cuddles and strokes! (£1 entry).

We’ll also be offering donkey rides on the lovely Alice and Hermione along the Thames (£2 a ride for under 8’s).

Getting there

Visit WISE16 transport for directions . Nearest overground stations are Surrey Quays, Canada Water (also Jubilee Line) and Rotherhithe. Bus route C10 has a stop by the farm and the bus 381 is just a few metres away in Salter Road.

We strongly recommend walking routes to enjoy the views of Greenland Dock or the Russia Dock green spaces and wildlife.

About Surrey Docks Farm

Surrey Docks Farm is a working city farm in the heart of London. It occupies a beautiful 2.2 acre site on the south bank of the river Thames in Rotherhithe.

The farm is an ideal setting and environment for environmental activities throughout the calendar year. There is always something interesting to see at the farm, no matter what the season or weather.

The farm works with local communities and the people of Southwark to provide many unique opportunities for people to learn about farming, food production, and be actively involved in the ongoing working life of the farm.

Animals reared on the farm include a herd of goats, sheep, cattle, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, bees and donkeys. The herds, flocks and swarms are farmed with specific attention to animal welfare at all times.

There are a variety of green and horticultural attractions at Surrey Docks Farm. We have an orchard, herb garden, dye garden, vegetable plots, and the wildlife area. All horticulture areas of the farm double as educational space.

The farm prides itself on having an open animal yard where members of the public can interact with our goats, sheep and chickens. The open yard was upgraded in 2014 to facilitate a safe and clean environment for both our visitors and animals.

Surrey Docks Farms is open 7 days a week, from 10am til 4pm

Entry to the public is FREE, although we do encourage visitors to give a donation of £3 per person to help contribute to our running costs. Donations can be made in the Farm Shop or through donation churns around the site.

If you are intending to visit us in a group please take a look at the Group Visits page.

Please note the Piccalilli Caff’ in the farm is closed on Mondays.

The award winning Piccalilli Caff is our onsite resident caff. We operate a beekeeping workshop in the summer months, “Piccalilli Caff”, working blacksmith’s forge and adult education rooms. We have a fully equipped classroom used by schools from across London.

The farm is managed by the Surrey Docks Farm Provident Society Ltd, a tax exempt charitable organisation registered with the Financial Services Authority, and recognised as charatable by HM Revenue & Customs (registration number 22829R).

Current patrons of the Society include the Bishop of Southwark and Sir Simon Hughes. The Society particularly encourages membership applications from local people to ensure they are at the forefront of what is essentially a local community project. Committee members of the Provident Society are elected at the Annual General Meeting.  @surreydocksfarm  SurreyDocksFarm
