Time and Talents has been short-listed for the category Charity of the Year with an income of less than £1 million. Time and Talents is a local charity based in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey. Set up in the 19th century to support poorer people in the area, it aims to create a place where everyone feels part of the community. It does this by providing a range of activities and programmes which bring people from the diverse local community together, addressing social isolation, increasing mental and physical wellbeing, and reducing divisions across the community.

Alex Evans, Director of Time and Talents, said:

“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted as a Finalist in the category Charity of the Year with an income of less than £1 million.

“We’re immensely proud of what we’ve achieved over the past year. With help from our dedicated volunteers, we have been able to increase the number of isolated lonely older people to whom we give intensive support, and also increased the events and activities we run to bring people together from different ages and backgrounds. We worked with around 4000 people last year – a huge increase on the year before.”

“With our second space, T&T2 in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, supported by British Land, we’re one step further towards reaching our goal of bringing the whole community together, across boundaries of age, wealth, background, and origin. The new space is for hire to anyone who wants to reach their community, with 20,000 a week footfall.”

“We couldn’t have increased our reach like this without the support of some amazing partners in Southwark, such as British Land, United St Saviour’s Charity, and the Henry Smith Foundation.
