DJ Stewart Who? Djing

Shortwave Cafe is a new venue which combines art gallery, video room, licensed bar and coffee shop in one of the iconic warehouse in the Biscuit Factory. On Friday 28th July you can join the official party while they smash a (metaphorical) bottle against the side and launch the ship. There will be a BBQ and special deals on Aperol Spritz and Pimms. The bar will be fully stocked, including draft beer from the Bermondsey breweries, Four Pure and Partizan

DJ Stewart Who? will be manning the decks. Stewart has played everywhere from the semi legal warehouse parties of Liverpool to the VIP rooms of some of London’s wildest clubs. He has entertained parties in every corner of the globe from Ibiza, Milan and Rome to Sydney via Sao Paulo, Moscow and Ecuador. Tonight, he’s all yours.

It’s a free event – no tickets required. So do pop along if you fancy it!

Don’t forget to admire the artwork of John McGowan Prints, Warehouse and Mill, on display at the Shortwave Cafe

DJ Stewart Who?

Stewart started DJing on Richmond College radio in ’87 just when rare groove was giving way to acid house. Between 12-2pm, he’d drop a mix of vintage funk, electro goth and Chicago oddities. After moving to Liverpool, he span at many of the city’s semi-legal warehouse parties, but also had residencies at Club 051, Bar Baa, The Academy (later Cream) and Whip It Up in Manchester.

One of London’s first video jocks at Kudos in Covent Garden in the mid-‘90s, Stewart became known for an eclectic mix of party tunes which led to DJ gigs in the VIP rooms of some of the capital’s wildest clubs. Stewart enjoyed a 5 year residency at Salvation at the Café De Paris VIP room and also 7 years in the VIP room at Fiction at The Cross.

Stewart was recently tipped by a US website, as one of ’12 UK DJs You Should Get To Know’ alongside Princess Julia, Jeffery Hinton and Severino.

He’s played parties at Privilege (Ibiza), Arq (Sydney), Casa das Caldeiras (Sao Paulo), Pervert (Milan), The Egg (London) Hotel Locarno (Rome), Amnesia (Ibiza), Neon Lounge (Los Angeles), Club Med (Bodrum), Queen (Paris), Zona (Moscow) Tease (Dublin), Essential (Manchester), Eureka Tower (Melbourne), Midnight Shift (Sydney), Gay Pride (Latvia) Balzac Opera Club (Ecuador) and Hustlaball (London).

Stewart is currently resident DJ at Hotwired, The Glory and Longwave Bar

Stewart conceived, promoted and hosted Studio 24 (The Hospital Club) which attracted international guest DJs (Paul Goodyear, Laurent C, The Men Who Fell 2 Earth) and a glittering array of A-list guests. The 2009 Studio 24 NYE party was the most profitable night in the club’s history.
